Arranging a Civil Funeral

If you require a Civil Funeral and wish me to act as your Civil Funeral Celebrant you will either need to contact me direct or contact a Funeral Director and request that they ask me to act as your Celebrant.   I will then make contact with you and arrange to meet at your convenience.

When we meet I will spend time with you to sensitively create a service that truly reflects the wishes, values and beliefs of your loved one.

In order to create a service that truly reflects your loved one's wishes it is important for me to get to know as much as possible about the person who has died; their life, their story, their wishes and tastes. The ceremony we create will be unique, and I will seek to make the occasion personal, and very special.

Before I visit, it would be helpful for you to think about the following aspects of your loved ones life:

  • Where they were born and raised
  • Siblings and family members they grew up with
  • School days and childhood stories
  • Partners, children, grandchildren and other family members
  • Closest friends
  • Armed forces / national service
  • Career and places of work
  • Groups and societies belonged to
  • Interests and achievements
  • Treasured pets
  • Favourite memories
  • Musical tastes
  • For what they will be remembered?
  • Will anyone else be participating in the service?
  • Sayings and stories

During the funeral service you may wish family or close friends to actively participate by providing readings, poems, pre-recorded music, live music, songs or simply their own personal tributes.  I welcome and encourage all those who wish to take part to express their own sentiments and say goodbye in ways that have significance for themselves and all those present.

Additionally you may wish to include unusual ways of marking your loss; ways that are meaningful to you, yet inclusive of everyone.  Whatever your wishes and requirements, I will work closely with you and your chosen funeral director to ensure that the service is all that you and your loved one would want it to be.

I look forward to speaking with you and meeting you so together with any other family members or friends who you think would like to be involved in preparing the service.

Should you have any questions prior to our meeting, or are undecided as to whether this type of service will be appropriate then please do not hesitate to contact me.
